Three FM radio channels, 10 forests on the card in KP, says Ghani

Khyber Pakthunkhwa Government is committed to raise the socio-economic status of the people of the province for which it has planned to invest heavily in social sectors including education, health and human resource development.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Higher Education, and spokesman of the KP government, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani here Wednesday said that 10 new Changa Manga like forests would be developed in KP to offset the effects of global warming, desertification and climatic change. Some 1.2 billion saplings under PTI Tsunami Trees project would be planted in southern districts of KP, he added.

In an exclusive interview with APP, Ghani said KP Govt was spending on development of human resource, adding change will ultimately come when every citizen would get quality education and health services across the board.

The minister said that 50 new colleges were being constructed in different districts of KP besides establishing Endowment Fund worth Rs 500 million for research and invocation in public sector universities and another endowment fund of Rs 1,000 million was setup for provision of merit based scholarships to students of KP studying in top educational institutions of other provinces. A sum of Rs.96 million has been set aside

Under Faculty Development Support Program for extending financial support to faculty members during their M.Phil and PhD studies, he added. Referring to initiatives in higher educational sector, he said three new universities including Science and Technology University in Nowshera and two women universities in Mardan and Swabi were established by PTI led Government to provide higher education facilities to the girl students.

To a question about delay in Metro Bus Project in Peshawar, he replied that, “how could the Government invest in metro like projects when 2.1 million chairs are required by government schools in the province and where children have to get education while sitting on mats,” he said. The Govt is committed to provide chairs and furniture to all government schools in next two years, he added.

He said that three new FM radio channels one each in Abbottaad, Kohat and Swat besides Web TV channel named Badloon (Change) were being launched to provide information and education services to people of KP.
