Appointment of 30,000 security guards in govt schools still awaited

After the Army Public School Peshawar attack, the Punjab govt approved the appointment of 30,000 security gaurds for govt schools across the province, but despite placing ads for hiring the security guards and after receiving applications and conducting interviews, not a single security guard has been hired yet.

Education Department is silent on the issue and the officers are blaming each other for the negligence, even as security for the schools keeps getting ignored.

According to details, Punjab govt had decided to hire ex-army security guards for all the govt schools in Punjab to make security of the schools more effective and ward off any attempt on the lives of the children.

Ads were published in this connection at district levels inviting applications from the candidates. Interviews of the applicants were duly conducted but still, no guard was appointed and the officials have not given any reason for the delay. It seems that no one at the Education Department is ready to take responsibility for the task.
