I want to talk about the grave issue of breast cancer in female population of Pakistan. The lack of awareness and delaying checkups out of fear are conventional reasons responsible for its rise. Globally as well as locally breast cancer is the most recurrent problem in women. In Asia, Pakistan has the highest frequency of breast cancer cases which is an appalling situation for us. Bearing in mind the saying that prevention is better than cure women below 40 should carry out regular self-examination and those with age above 40 should undergo regular screening and mammography to avoid the excruciating pain of mastectomy.

To eradicate this precarious disease awareness campaigns should be launched that specially focus on rural areas. Women with family history should go through regular checkups as negligence on their part can take their lives. They should be taught early detection methods as cases accounted in later stages are irremediable. People should be made well aware of its signs and symptoms.

Precautionary measures taken before hand can save many lives. Females should visit their doctors as per appointments. They should have enough knowledge so that they can detect any abnormality in their bodies. Proper mammography in case of any suspicion is recommended to detect the issue. Moreover, proper counseling of public can spread awareness and help save many precious lives.
