After Ranbir Kapoor revealed that his family members have already been to Pakistan, his father Rishi Kapoor told exactly when he got an opportunity to visit the country.

During an interactive question and answer session on Twitter today, a curious fan asked Rishi “if he has ever been to Pakistan”.

To which the veteran actor replied, saying: “Yes back in 1990. We shot for Henna in Islamabad. Visited Lahore, Karachi and my family hometown Peshawar.”

The ’90s Bollywood film starred renowned Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiyar in a lead role. The story revolved around a Kashmiri girl, Henna (played by Zeba) and Chander (played by Rishi). The two fall in love after Rishi mistakenly strays to the Pakistani-occupied side of the disputed territory.

The film was an Indo-Pak project and the dialogues were written by legendary Pakistani writer Haseena Moin, on Raj Kapoor’s special request.

Henna was said to have been shot only in Kashmir previously. As the actor made an interesting revelation now, it’s surprising to know that parts of the film have been shot in Islamabad.

The actor also spoke about his son’s acting skills. He said he is too “harsh” and “critical” as an actor and that’s why when it comes to praising the work of his son and actor Ranbir Kapoor, he uses the same methodology on him.

When asked about Ranbir’s best movie, Rishi replied: “Generally, I don’t like him as I am too critical and harsh but he was decent in Barfi! And Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.”

When it comes to his own work, he maintains the same rule. When a fan asked about his favourite movie after the 1980 thriller Karz, the 63-year-old replied: “Karz was no great work. Just stylized. Ghai’s best. Great music and Joie de vivre! Simi and Tina were to die for.”

However, he added that the 1982 film Prem Rog, which was directed by his father Raj Kapoor, is one of his memorable films. “Prem Rog is perhaps one memorable film I got to do. Was tough to play an introvert rebellious with the system,” he wrote.

The Do Dooni Chaar star also recalled his childhood days when yesteryear actresses Madhubala and Meena Kumari used to visit their house on Diwali.

Asked whether he has any memories or stories to share about Madhubala and Meena Kumari, Rishi said: “When I was very young, they often visited our house for Diwali etc… How unfortunate I was not realising their worth.”

Rishi Kapoor will next be seen in Kapoor & Sons.
