Senate Standing Committee puts Railways under the microscope

A meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Pakistan Railways (PR) presided over by its Chairman Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani was held at the Railway Headquarters on Monday.

The committee reviewed several matters including the implementation of previous meetings’ recommendations, Sandak Railway Track, Royal Palm case, Scrap and its theft and role of the PR police especially the PRP work against theft.

PR Chairperson Parveen Agha gave a briefing on the issues and also answered the questions of the members of the standing committee.

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique also attended the meeting and assured the committee that no deal would be made with the Royal Palm Club administration outside the court and the court’s decision would be followed in letter and spirit.

Members Standing Committee Senator Zahida Khan, Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi, Senator Hafiz Hamadullah, Senator Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, Senator Lieutenant General (r) Salahuddin Tirimzi, Senator Taj Haider and Senator Samina Abid were present on the occasion.

PR chairperson Parveen Agha, Chief Executive Officer Javaid Anwar Boobak, PR IG Munir Ahmad Chishti and other Railways officials also participated in the meeting.
