Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that the government was committed to making Pakistan a more safe and secure country not only for ourselves but for the entire world.
Addressing a protest demonstration organised by Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) in front of Parliament House, Rashid said it was not a protest demonstration but renewal of the pledge to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism and extremism.
He said in consultation with Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) the government would take more steps to provide better security to journalists community under the National Action Plan. He said that entire world was facing the threat of terrorism and all required steps would be taken so that the new generation was handed over a peaceful and safe Pakistan.
He said that provincial governments would be asked to take more steps for ensuring security of journalists. Measures would be taken to make worship places, trading centres, media houses and working journalists more secured, he said.
The minister said that blood of the martyrs in war against terrorism, including journalists would not go waste and soon Pakistan would become a land of peace.
