Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif blamed the ‘retrogressive policies’ of previous governments for the problems plaguing the country today, including terrorism and power outages.

He was addressing a gathering in Shamlakot after the inauguration of a 56-kilometre, four-lane motorway between Khanewal and Multan. PM Sharif said he regretted that former policies had adversely affected the country and its economy.

“Instead of completing the projects after dislodging our government in 1999, they gifted power outages to the industrial, domestic and agriculture sectors,” he said.

Regarding terrorism, he said:

“The situation worsened in the past decade under the former regimes with the country going through untold miseries… We have taken bold decisions vis-à-vis terrorism and followed them with actions. We will not budge on our stance against terrorism and soon Pakistan will be a better place, banishing the darkness of load-shedding and terrorism forever.”

  1. Finally he admits there is crisis and he is the Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister cum Patron PCB ….etc etc.. He has been in this position for over two years which means crisis are his own creations. He has been mostly vacationing with family or signing MOUs whatever they are worth. He did not have time for domestic affairs until Imran Khan and PTI drew his attention after Army shook him up from his slumber. PTI are real spoilsport to distract him from his favorite pastimes ie eating traveling and sleeping and again eating!

  2. Blaming the 'previous' Governments for ALL the ills, is one of the most dis-graceful statement and that too from the head of the Government. Obama took over from Bush when things were not as good as they normally are in US. Economy was in shambles due to Iraq War and so on. Banks were injected 800 bn Dollars to recover. But we yet have to hear a complaint from him. Failure of good governance in Pakistan is echoing all over – from Establishment to streets but such a disgraceful statement coming from the PM is embarrassing.
