Some Ulema have come forward to resolve issues between controversial cleric of Lal Masjid Abdul Aziz and the government to avoid another bloody clash.

Sources told Online that Ulema from Wafaq-ul-Madaris including Hanif Jalandhri, JUI-F leader Ghafoor Hyderi could mediate between district government of Islamabad and hardliner Maulana Abdul Aziz.

Maulana Aziz has demanded that a ban on his movement be lifted and that no barriers be placed in his campaign to enforce Sharia in Pakistan.

Hanif Jalandhri and Maulana Ghafoor Hyderi are likely to start their effort from coming week to bring both parties on negotiation table to avoid any clash like 2007 operation which left dozens dead, Online learnt.

One of the main demands that Maulana has made is the recovering of his son-in-law who has been missing since June 2014. Another demand by him is that an FIR registered against him last year be quashed and that his police security be restored.

Aziz has given the government “two weeks” to fulfil his demands, failing which he said he would result in protest rallies all over the country. This happened after he threatened to take out a rally on Friday from Jamia Hafsa to Lal Masjid and to lead Friday prayers there. In response, the local administration negotiated with him and told him to not take out the rally and that his demands would be presented to the higher authorities.
