Armed men shot dead wife of newly-elected councilor of PML-N and injured him critically over grudge of defeat in local bodies election here on Saturday.
Armed men stated to be of allies of defeated candidate named Muhammad Abbas barged into house of the winner candidate Muhammad Shahbaz located in Ward No 37 of Ferozwala and opened indiscriminate firing at the couple present in the house.
As a result, wife of the newly elected councilor was killed while Shahbaz himself was seriously wounded. The attackers managed to flee after committing the crime.
The body and injured were shifted to hospital.
The police after registering a case against the accused and his accomplices started raids for their arrests.
