Islamabad – Our Ex-Bhabhi Correspondent: At an emergency press conference, the nation’s experts said on Saturday that the country’s Reham Khan-related news reserves are at a critical low.
“As is the norm, such reserves are taken for granted when they are plentiful,” said Dr Shaiq Azam of the Quaid-e-Azam University. “But according to all indications, our reserves are set to deplete sooner than expected.”
“Now that all aspects of the divorce have been squeezed to their maximum, it is already very difficult to keep churning out Reham-Imran related news stories for the nation’s newsrooms,” he added.
The warning is going to hit the country’s news media the worst, where even crime, economy and urban issues reporters had been asked to somehow incorporate the words “Reham Khan” into their headlines in order to improve website traffic.
“It was already difficult for us to work her name into getting us more readership,” said Irfan Hassan, managing editor of Pakistan Poultry Times, a poultry industry trade journal. “But now that even mainstream media is facing a difficulty in generating more Reham Khan stories, I guess we would finally have to get back to doing our job.”
The experts, however, have asked the national news media not to lose hope. That there are certain steps that could be taken to help combat these falling levels. “For starters, there is the possibility of sting operations where journalists can stake out the residence of Reham Khan in England, and when she gets out, record her reactions of her trying to quickly get away from the cameras,” said Maria Khaleeq, chairperson Karachi University’s media studies department.
“And then, there is the possibility that she will also be releasing some more information in the times to come.”
