The government is setting up a ‘National Food Security’ council. You need both soil and water to grow food.
We have millions of acres of arable soil in the country but not a drop of water to irrigate them. Development of water resources in the country came to a standstill with Tarbela dam. Unless the Council takes on the logjam head on this body will just be another white collar nail in the coffin.
Kalabagh dam is the only viable solution to our food and energy problems. The opponents of the dam have to be brought to the table to tell us what is so wrong with the project, or are they just playing follow the leader. These are the leaders who chose to play politics with an issue of such national importance.
