The world’s leading company GE Power has announced three new significant contracts of 676MW to avert severe energy crisis in Pakistan.

The first contract has been made with Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited, a 217 MW independent power project and the only green facility of its kind in the country, to provide industrial internet solutions that will enhance operational performance and power plant reliability. Powered by Predix, GE Power will provide predictive enhancement and performance improvement (PEPI) solutions for strengthening operations excellence.

GE Power is also supplying its APM solutions for the 234 MW power project by Sapphire Group near Lahore and for Saif Group’s 225 MW combined cycle thermal power project developed under the government’s power policy in Sahiwal. Both projects employ GE’s advanced 6FA turbines that offer among the highest fuel efficiency.

The PEPI solutions installed by GE Power include GE software, hardware and monitoring systems, customised for each site. These solutions will result in improving overall plant visibility with KPIs and reliability to reduce forced outages. All the solutions will be implemented as per GE’s engineering design principles.

GE’s industrial internet solutions support the plants in enhancing power generation using lesser fuel that will meet the growing and critical demand for electricity in the country. GE Power (NYSE: GE) is providing transformative software service solutions for industrial plants in the energy sector through its partnerships with RasGas in Qatar and Engro, Sapphire and Saif in Pakistan.

Azeez Mohammed, President & CEO, Power Services said: “GE’s industrial internet is a game changer for the energy sector enabling our partners in the region to optimise their assets for greater reliability, efficiency and productivity. This in turn helps to meet the growing demand for power. GE’s solutions bring higher power output at lower cost through improved efficiency across the energy spectrum – from power generation to power distribution to power users. The focus on predictive maintenance to avoid problems before they happen and the ability to drive performance improvement support our partners in achieving higher returns and long-term value for their assets.”
