The Supreme Court Wednesday adjourned the hearing of an appeal by Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique till Thursday, saying that the court would look into the matter whether the issue of irregularities was due to maladministration or purposefully.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the case filed by Khawaja Saad Rafique against the Election Tribunal decision vis-a-vis re-election in NA-125 Lahore.
During the course of proceeding, Khawaja Haris, the counsel for Saad Rafique argued that the tribunal raised two points in its decision which include illegal and corrupt practices and non-compliance of provisions of Peoples Representation Act, 1976.
He added that his client had been exonerated from the first charge of illegal and corrupt practices so he only wanted to contest the points which directly affected his client.
Khawaja Haris pleaded that the Tribunal in its verdict pointed out irregularities and not about rigging in the polls, adding that the tribunal’s decision was based upon speculations and does not hold water so to prove his stance he needed some time.
Upon which, the court decided to adjourn case till November 19 (Thursday) so that counsels from the both sides could argue in detail.
