Recently yoga fever has spread in DHA. It has been witnessed that about a dozen persons assemble in CC park, Phase IV, DHA, in the morning when residents are having a walk on the jogging track. These people took a prayer mat from the adjoining mosque and spread it on the lawn in front of the mosque and used the long prayer mat for strange calisthenics presumably in yoga under the tutelage of an instructor who distributed cards with a half clad person sitting cross legged with his hands on his knees and fingers pointing upwards.
It appears a new yoga culture is spreading fast in DHA, Lahore. It is a curious scene to see a bearded person looking upwards with his hands waving sideways and making ridiculous twists and turns. The site looks strange to residents of DHA park as it gets inspiration from a guru performing yoga that is anathema to Islam. The act of performing yoga on prayer mats of the mosque is intriguing as it smacks of replacing prayers by yoga calisthenics. This looks like cultural invasion from which the DHA authorities should notice.
