Tribal leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday warned the central leadership that they would stage ‘sit-in’ outside parliament if the ruling party did not dismiss incumbent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor before Nov 30.
Speaking at a news conference at the Press Club, PML-N’s FATA President Faqir Muhammad Afridi blamed KP Governor Mahtab Ahmad Khan for lowering popularity of the party in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
PML-FATA General Secretary Dilawar Mehsud, Secretary Information Noushad Khan, and representatives of all tribal agencies, were present in the conference.
Fariq Khan recalled that the workers had rejoiced at the appointment of the KP governor expecting he would address their problems on priority basis, but with the passage of time their dreams diminished due to indifferent attitude of the local administration towards workers.
Though, he said, the mega development projects were initiated by the governor but the party activists were ignored. He said that they had conveyed reservations to FATA Coordinator and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Amir Muqam, but no to avail.
PML-N’s FATA general secretary said that they did not want to create a separate group but wanted to strengthen the party. They alleged massive corruption in Annual Development Program (ADP).
“We have no other option but to launch a protest movement against the governor,” he said, adding that party workers across FATA would stage a ‘sit-in’ outside the parliament house on Nov 30, which would continue till the acceptance of their demands, including ouster of Governor Mehtab Ahmad Khan.
