The Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms met under the Chairmanship of MNA Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail in the Parliament House on Monday to discuss rehabilitation and up-gradation of 400 railway coaches, feasibility study on a River Indus bridge to link Kallur Kot with D.I. Khan and up-gradation of critical care facilities at PIMS, Islamabad among other projects.
The Committee expressed concern over the unnecessary delay in completion of rehabilitation and up-gradation of 400 railway coaches, which increased the cost of the project from 3,434 million to 5,200 million due to devaluation of currency and load-shedding. It directed Pakistan Railways to ensure the completion of the project within the new timeframe in order to avoid further losses.
It directed NHA to complete the feasibility report on the bridge on River Indus at the earliest so that the construction work of the project could be started without further delay.
The Committee expressed grave concern over the unnecessary delay in completion of Peshawar Northern Bypass project and constituted a four members sub-committee headed by MNA Iftikhar-ud-Din to inquire the reasons of delay of completion of the said project.
It expressed displeasure that the recruitment of qualified staff was eliminated from PC-I of PIMS for up-gradation of critical care facilities, consequently the administration of PIMS was facing problem to make it operational as there was a shortage of manpower. The Standing Committee directed that the Ministry of CA &DD may take up the issue with the Ministry of Finance for recruitment in PIMS to meet their requirements.
