Sindh Minister for Education and Information Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, in an apparent reference to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said there is no place for such parties in Sindh which staged “failed sit-ins” and obstructed the development of the country.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, the PPP leader said that the people of Sindh do not like leaders who consider them “low class citizens”.
He said Imran Khan has insulted the people of Sindh by comparing them with ‘insects’. He further said that Khan had endorsed the takeover by Pervez Musharraf, adding that those who had taken sides with a dictator are pointing fingers at the PPP now.
Nisar Khuhro said that the PPP did not make any request to the Election Commission of Pakistan for the postponement of local government elections in Sanghar district.
The provincial government had sufficient force for elections in Sanghar, he added.
He said that it was the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan to put off polls in Sanghar.
The PPP leader further said Hurs spiritual leader Pir Pagara has expressed his confidence in the judicial commission set up to investigate the Khairpur firing incident.
The minister informed that 51,000 policemen and 3,700 Rangers personnel will be deployed for security duty for the second phase of the local government elections in Sindh, to be held on November 19.
He pointed out that the police and Rangers will be present at all polling stations, while the Pakistan Army will be on stand-by during the elections.
Khuhro also criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his speech during Diwali in Karachi a few days ago.
Nisar Khuhro thanked the people of Thatta and Sujawal for their warm welcome to party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the election rally.
