Dar praises ‘satisfactory progress’ on Kissan Package

Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday chaired a meeting of the senior officials of Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industries, Ministry of National Food Security and Ministry of Commerce to review implementation status of the Kissan Package.

The meeting expressed satisfaction on the effective and prompt implementation of the package throughout the country.

The finance minister while praising efforts of the officials concerned in implementation of the Package said that the momentum must be maintained in future as well and it should be ensured that the farmers are able to fully avail benefits of the package.

The finance minister said during the meeting that the government attached great importance to the well being of the farmers’ community and would take all measures to facilitate them.

DAR REVIEWS STATUS OF AGRI LOANS:

Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday chaired a meeting to review the current profile of agricultural credit in the country.

The minister said that the government attached great importance to the growth and promotion of the agriculture sector as it was a major contributor to the national economy. In order to achieve this objective, he said, facilitation of the farmers’ community was all the more necessary. He said that the provision of credit to them is major component of this facilitation. The minister emphasized that all possible efforts should be made to meet the target for disbursement of agriculture credit during the current fiscal year.

The meeting also reviewed measures for effective fiscal and monetary discipline in the country.

Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masood, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, State Bank Deputy Governor Saeed Ahmed, SECP Chairman Zafarul Haq Hijazi, Zarai Tariqqiati Bank President Talat Mahmood and other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance attended the meeting.
