CEC doesn’t approve of judges meddling in ECP affairs

Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan on Tuesday said that high courts should avoid interfering in matters of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), saying lawyers should come to ECP instead of relying on verdicts from high courts.

According to details, during the hearing of various election petitions, Sardar Raza criticised high courts for interfering in election matters. He said that including or excluding anyone’s name from voter lists is ECP’s legal and constitutional right but high courts are giving orders regarding this issue.

Sardar Raza further said that ECP’s judges have been dealing with such issues for over 45 years so high court judges should stop giving verdicts on ECP’s matters.
