ANF foils attempt to smuggle heroin, opium at Port Qasim

The Anti-Narcotics Force, Karachi Seaport Team, captured a Canada bound Container No MRKU-5267523 at International Container Terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi.

The search of the container led to seizure of 70 Kg heroin and 76 Kg opium. Drugs were packed in plastic sachets and were concealed tactfully inside the improvised cavities created in the walls and floor of the container. The worth of the seized drugs amounts to Rs 554 million approximately in the international market.

As per initial information, the container was being dispatched by a commercial company stationed at Karachi to a foreign commercial company based in Canada. A suspected person, Shaikh Muhammad Akram, was also taken into custody for investigations.
