Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Sunday lashed out at the incumbent government for the plight of the farmers.

Addressing a rally in Mianwali as part of PTI’s campaign for the local government elections, Imran Khan said the farmers of country are being subjected to ‘economic murder’.

“Mian Sahib [PM Nawaz Sharif] is spending billions on metro buses and turning a blind eye to conditions of farmers,” he added.

He said the government could not deceive masses repeatedly. People have become aware of the truth, he added. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has not taken any concrete step to overcome the problems of farmers.

Khan said that farmers have always suffered when it comes to giving them relief.

He claimed that farmers in neighbouring India were better off than their Pakistani counterparts and being provided with quality pesticides and fertilisers at cheaper rates.

Khan said that the economic murder of farmers was taking place and the prime minister was indifferent to the situation. He added that poverty was increasing in Mianwali.

Criticising the government, PTI chief added that PML-N has only made promises regarding the installation of Nandipur power project but no practical work has been seen in this regard.

Khan asked his supporters to gear up for the upcoming LG polls. He also appealed to the voters to cast their vote in favour of PTI.

Meanwhile, six people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed. PTI supporters had gathered there to watch the address of their party leader. PTI supporters, who were attending the rally, reached the site to rescue those trapped under the debris.

The wounded were shifted to District headquarters Hospital Mianwali.
