Hashim Zaidi misappropriated 16 acres land, NAB tells SHC

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) that former Commissioner Karachi and Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Hashim Raza Zaidi was involved in misappropriation of 16 acres of land in Scheme 33, Karachi.
SHC bench headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto was hearing a petition filed by Zaidi that he was being harassed by NAB in respect to an inquiry against him.
On Monday, the NAB filed its reply, stating that Zaidi was involved in selling 16 acres of government land to a man namely Ahmed Zahoor Madni for making project, Ahsan Dreamland. NAB’s said Zaidi was not entitled to give any discount, but he caused a huge loss to the national exchequer.
Zaidi and other accused were present before the court during the hearing.
The court summoned investigating officer on December 9.
The NAB is investigating into charges of corruption and embezzlement against alleged front men of the corruption mafia in Sindh including former Commissioner of Karachi, Hashim Raza Zaidi.
Zaidi is currently on bail, as earlier in September, SHC granted him a pre-arrest bail against the surety bonds of Rs 3 million.
The court had also directed him to cooperate with relevant authorities in investigation and not to leave the country.
