Dengue claims life of 18-year-old girl in Karachi

A dengue fever patient died in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) Karachi on Monday; taking the death toll from this disease to nine this year so far.
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Senior Director Health and Medical Services Dr Salma Kausar confirmed the death of an 18-years-old girl, Uroosa, resident of North Nazimbad. She died in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital during treatment. She had been under treatment in the hospital for a couple of days.
However, 134 more dengue cases were reported in Sindh.
At least 134 more dengue fever cases were detected across the Sindh province during last week, out of which 129 were reported from Karachi city.
As per weekly report issued by Dengue Prevention and Control Programme Sindh, a total 3,189 dengue fever cases were reported from Sindh province from January 1, 2015 to till date; 3,115 cases were detected from Karachi city alone. Nine people have died from dengue fever in the city this year so far.
The report stated that 134 dengue fever cases emerged across the province from November 9 to 15; 129 cases were reported from Karachi, two from Hyderabad and three from Jamshoro.
The report further stated that out of total 3,189 dengue fever reported cases from Sindh province, 3,115 were reported from Karachi, 30 from Hyderabad, nine from Larkana, eight from Mirpurkhas, seven from Umerkot, four from Shaheed Benazirabad, three each from Thatta, Sukkur, Jamshoro and Ghotki, two from Sanghar, and one each from Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
