The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce& Industry (RCCI) in collaboration with its 11 partner universities is organising Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) from November 16-20. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal will be the chief guest on this occasion.
RCCI President Mian Humayun Parvez said that the GEW was an international initiative that introduced entrepreneurship to young people in six continents. Since its creation, more than 10 million people from 102 countries had participated in entrepreneurial-related activities during the GEW, he added.
While commenting on the background of GEW, RCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Rafiq said that the GEW emerged in 2008 as a result of Enterprise Week UK and Entrepreneurship Week USA 2007. He further added that the GEW aimed at giving exposure to people about the benefits of entrepreneurship through different activities and to motivate them to explore their innovative entrepreneurial ideas in order to boost business activities.
This annual event includes the participation of entrepreneurial experts, policy-makers, education practitioners and politicians. Last year, 88 countries worldwide hosted Global Entrepreneurship Week in their respective countries which helped generating over 32,000 activities.
The RCCI was organising this event for the first time. During this week, multiple training sessions will be held at RCCI and in partner universities as well.
