The irrigation department has recovered more than Rs 24 million in water cess (abiana) from growers during rabbi season 2014-15 and khareef 2014.
According to official sources, teams recovered over Rs 2.5 Abiana from Multan, Rs 12 million from Lodhran, Rs 12 million from Vehari and over Rs 7.8 million from Pakpattan during the rabbi season 2014-15 and khareef 2014 from January, 2014 to Oct 31,2015.
Meanwhile, Rs 132,000 in water charges was also recovered from four districts, including Rs 16,300 from Multan, Rs 81,300 from Lodhran and Rs 34,300 from Pakpattan while no recovery was reported from Vehari during the rabbi season 2014-15.
