As part of the National Action Plan(NAP), the Rawalpindi Arts Council arranged a ‘Sham-e-Qalandar’ with renowned folk sufi singer Qurban Niazi to highlight the message that Pakistan is a peaceful country and the people follow the message of Sufism, which calls for tolerance and brotherhood and religious harmony.
The night was attended as chief guest by Chairman Khubaib Foundation Nadeem Ahmed Khan accompanied by Naheed Manzoor, Resident Director Waqar Ahmed and a delegation of IHH from Turkey, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
Qurban Niazi, his grandson Umair Niazi, Laraib Tahir, Nazar Javed and other received thunder appreciation by singing Sufi poetry. Qurban sang the poetry of Baba Bhuley Shah, Shah Hussain, Bedam Warsi, Khwaja Ghulam Fareed, Waris Shah, Sultan Bahoo and Baba Fareed.
Nadeem said that Islam is a peaceful religion who has been reached in sub-continent by sufi saints. He added that the aim to arrange this night was to show Pakistanis are peaceful.
Qurban Niazi who has been nominated for Sitara-e-Imtiaz is a prominent Pakistani folk singer with a vision to promote local Sufi Music to the world.
