  • Say Pakistan stands firm behind French people, govt

The president, prime minister and other political leaders strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on Saturday and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of human lives.

In his condemnation-statement, President Mamnoon Hussain expressed solidarity with the French people, and said terrorists were enemies of humanity. “It is an international phenomenon and a joint strategy is needed for its complete eradication,” he added. In his condolence message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan stood firm behind the people and government of France in this hour. He said that “terrorists belonged to no religion. Militants are enemies of humanity”. The premier said that Pakistan had been fighting terrorism for a long time and was succeeding significantly now. He vowed to continue war on terror and support all militancy-hit countries for a better world.

The Foreign Office in a statement released Saturday said the people and government of Pakistan wished to convey their heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the people and government of France. “We stand with them in their hour of grief. We pray for speedy recovery of the injured.” The statement reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Other politicians and national leaders, including Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Senate chairman Raza Rabbani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl head Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah, strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in French capital.
