Dysfunctional dialysis machines at PIMS adds to patients’ miseries

Out of order dialysis machines at PIMS have multiplied miseries of kidney patients.

According to several patients and a source, the dialysis machines in the hospital have been lying dysfunctional for many months, forcing kidney patients to approach private hospitals for treatment. The patents have to pay Rs6,000 for one time dialysis in private hospitals.. Senior doctors also remain missing from the kidney ward.

When contacted, PIMS Spokesman Dr Wasim Khawaja said that machines in different wards often go out of order due to unprecedented rush of patients. He said that the hospital administration gets the dysfunctional machines fixed from time to time.
