  • Justice Jamali says speedy dispensation of justice responsibility of judges

Pakistan is in the midst of internal and external terror threats and it is the responsibility of the judges to dispense justice speedily, remarked Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali while addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony of an anti-terrorism courts building at the Karachi Central Jail on Saturday.

The CJP said that the establishment of ten anti-terrorism courts was key to dealing with the menace of terrorism in view of several terrorist attacks that led to loss of many innocent lives. He observed that even lawyers and police officials were not safe.

An improved and secure environment would enable the judges to provide speedy and inexpensive justice, Justice Jamali said as he appreciated the Sindh government for providing funds for the construction of residences of judges and called upon other provinces to follow the suit. The CJP also observed that the country was well-prepared to fight extremists and terrorists.

Justice Jamali meanwhile directed the jail authorities to ensure better environment and protection of the appointed judges. He also pledged all-out assistance for the establishment of counter-terrorism courts in the metropolis.
