The world’s famous wax museum is all set to expand its footprint in India!

During Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the UK, it was officially announced in London that the latest venture of Madame Tussauds’ will open in New Delhi for Bollywood stars in 2017. It will be a part of the India-UK Year of Culture, reports NDTV.

Waxworks of superstars including Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif are exhibited in London and they are among the most popular ones.

Merlin, the parent group of Madame Tussauds’, will be investing 50 million pounds in India over 10 years to roll out other country’s favourites including Sea Life aquariums and Lego land Discovery Centres across India.

A Shakespeare First Folio, treasures from the British Museum and a copy of the Magna Carta will be a part of the 2017 cultural exchange and will be displayed all across India. An Indian festival will also be staged in the UK during the same year, as announced by the British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

“The great partnership between India and the UK extends beyond economic ties to the boards of The Bard and the beaches of Bollywood. We have some of the best cultural exports in the world – and it’s about time we celebrated this, together,” said Cameron.

Cameron also announced that, 2017 will see yearlong celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of Indian independence and UK cultural ties.

A collaboration of top UK institutions with their Indian counterparts will not only strengthen cultural and economic ties between the two countries but also showcase British creativity on the global stage.
