HEC planning to establish a new university in Sindh : Senate

Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Thursday informed the Senate that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was planning to establish either a new university or a sub-campus of the existing universities at district levels across Sindh during the next three years.

In a written reply to the House, the minister said a federal university at Hyderabad has been proposed to be established in financial year 2016-17 to accommodate Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan and Tando Allah Yar districts. He said that there was no university/degree awarding institutions as well as its sub-campus established in district Tando Allah Yar.

However, he said four universities were functional in the close vicinity of Tando Allah Yar and were equally accessible for the people of the district.

He said the universities included the Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, Sindh University of Jamshoro, Liaquat University of Health Sciences of Jamshoro and the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology of Jamshoro.

  1. It will be highly appreciated step to their educational programs there will be less literacy rate and more educated persons, which may play a vital role to country's progress and prosperity.
