Rawalpindi Excise and taxation department has decided to introduce the Dealers Registration system for the registration of new vehicles under the Registration Act.
According to information, under the new system, dealers would provide details of the vehicles and bio data of the purchasers directly online to the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and transfer the registration fee from this account to the bank account.
The dealer would also be required to collect the registration and official number plates of the vehicles from the department and provide them to the purchasers.
Sources said that the dealers would be allowed to receive service charges from the purchasers for the additional services.
Sources said this system has already been started in Lahore. It is aimed at facilitating the people so that they do not have to visit the Excise and Taxation office frequently. It will also help reduce the involvement of a middle men who charge heavily and minimise corruption in the Taxation department.
