KP PAC takes notice of over payments in development schemes

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has taken strong notice of irregularities in the payment of development schemes by C&W Bannu Division during financial year 2010-11 and established a sub-committee to probe into the matter.

The meeting of Public Accounts Committee held here in Assembly Secretariat with MPA Mahmood Ahmad Bhetni in the chair.

Besides, MPAs Arbab Akbar Hayat Khan, Syed Jaffar Shah, Mufti Said Janan, Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha, Qurban Ali Khan, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai and Mohammad Idrees Khan, Secretary Assembly, Amanullah Khan, Additional Secretary PAC Amjad Khan, Director General (DG) Audit, Mohammad Faheem, Director Audit, Momin Khan, Additional Secretary C&W, Ghulam Siddiq, Chief Engineer, Sanober Khan, the higher authorities of finance and law also attended.

The committee said that any official found guilty, would face stern legal action.

The committee discussed different audit pars during which they expressed concern over additional payments in head of development schemes by C&W Bannu.

In this connection, over payment was made in head of RCC. However, the C&W Department recovered an amount of Rs1, 025,350 million. But, members of PAC were of the opinion that no action has been made against the concerned official.

For inquiry into the matter a sub-committee headed by MPA Idrees was constituted. Other members of the committee are MPAs Mufti Said Janan and Shaukat Yousafzai.

The meeting also took notice of higher amounts than the allocated funds for development schemes by C&W and more than Rs.8.784 million made to different contractors and an amount of Rs.6.541 million were released for non-schedule items in Commissioner House, Bannu.

Similarly, an over payment of Rs.4.929 million was made to different contractors during financial year 2009-10.

The members of the committee expressed anguish over no action against the officials involved in these irregularities and the concerned departments were asked for presentation of report before the committee.
