While robbers were free in the garrison city for dacoities at night but as the police force takes no interest to free the city from criminals, day light robberies are increasing every day.
According to reports, a gang of robbers on motorcycles raided at a retail shop in Khayban-e-Sir Syed, Sector-II and forced the owner and the sales man at gunpoint to hand over the cash.
Though the shop was on a busy street and a number of people were also sitting in the adjacent park at around 5pm, but the bike riders looted the cash and drove away while displaying their arms. The Rescue team and policemen arrived late even though Pirwadhai police station was nearby.
The locals said this was not the first incident of its kind in Khayban-e-Sir Syed. They said there are different gangs of robbers who are active not only at night but they are not scared to carry out their crimes during day time.
Due to increasing incidents of robberies and lack of security, the shopkeepers in Khayban-e-Sir Syed and adjacent Bangash colony have started closing their businesses after 8pm.
People have appealed to the DIG and SSP Rawalpindi to mobilize the police force and ensure that they start their patrol after the sunset rather than moving in their mobiles after midnight.
