Unidentified gunmen shot dead a sub-inspector and injured his driver in an attack near Sunnat Singh railway crossing on Monday.
According to details, the attackers ambushed the vehicle of SI Rana Atif, killing him on the spot and critically wounding his driver. The attackers then fled the crime scene.
The injured driver was rushed to a hospital for treatment where according to medics his condition was serious.
The deceased SI Rana Atif had been deployed at the Toba Tek Singh Police Station. He had arrested several terrorists and it is being assumed that the attack was to avenge their arrests.
