During the counting of the votes for Speaker on Monday, a rejected vote surfaced and made news headlines, as it contained the statement: “This parliament is anti-Pakistan, anti-farmers and anti-labourers, I cannot vote for the speaker of such a parliament”, reported a local news outlet.

The famously rebellious Member of National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti was many people’s first guess as the suspect after the rejected vote surfaced. Many in the House as well as political analysts said that it could be no one other than Jamshed Dasti to cast the protesting vote.

But, when Jamshed Dasti was asked by the media about the vote, he neither confirmed nor denied casting that vote, instead he said that whoever did that, must have been following his conscious. He said that he himself cast the vote according to his best judgment.
