Corps Commanders moot reviews internal security situation of the country

COAS directs to expedite return of TDPs, overcoming all obstacles for development works in affected areas; forum discusses upcoming visit of COAS to USA

Corps Commanders Conference was held at General Headquarters on Tuesday; Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired the meeting.

An exhaustive review of internal security situation was carried out during the meeting.

Appreciating the progress of ongoing military operation and the intelligence based operations, their achievements and effects, the army chief acknowledged full support of the nation for the ongoing operations to eliminate terrorism and extremism. He, however, underlined the need for matching governance initiatives for long term gains of operation and enduring peace across the country. Progress in National Action Plan’s implementation, finalization of FATA reforms, and concluding all ongoing JITs on priority basis were highlighted as issues, which could have an impact on the army’s initiatives.

COAS also directed to expedite return of Temporarily Dislocated Persons (TDPs) and rehabilitation of all displaced families overcoming all obstacles for development works in affected areas.

The forum also discussed the upcoming visit of COAS to USA, where the army chief will highlight Pakistan’s perspective on emerging regional realities.
