3,600 MW power to be available from gas-based projects in 2017: CM

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the round the clock efforts being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for elimination of energy crisis are bearing fruit.
He said that 3,600 MW electricity would be available to the Pakistani people from gas-based projects in 2017. He said that the hard work made by the present government led by Nawaz Sharif for completing energy projects with transparency, devotion and commitment is unprecedented in the history of the country. He said that Rs 110 billion of the nation had been saved in gas project under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and this is the biggest saving of national resources in the national history.
He said that the glorious success of PML-N in the first phase of local bodies’ elections in Punjab is reflection of the confidence of the masses in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and it is message that we should march forward for putting the economy on sound foundations and removing darkness from the country.
He expressed these views while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of 1,223 MW gas-based project at Balloki on Tuesday. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana, federal ministers Khawaja Asif, Pervaiz Rashid, provincial ministers, MNA, MPAs, officials of Chinese and American companies, energy experts and a large number people were present on the occasion.
Sharif said Nawaz Sharif had ordered preparation of 3600 MW gas-based projects five months ago, out of which work has already been started on two projects whereas the foundation stone of third project has also been laid at Balloki. Of these, the Punjab government is setting up one project with its own resources while the federal government is setting up two projects. He said that we should thank Almighty Allah that practical shape has been given to the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in a short period of five months.
The chief minister said that despite difficulties, problems and challenges, Nawaz Sharif is working round the clock for furthering energy projects. He said be it Neelum-Jhelum project, Tarbela-4 or any other energy project, Nawaz Sharif is personally monitoring these projects and holding regular meetings for reviewing implementation of these projects.
He said Chinese company Harban International and American company General Electric had set up Guddu Power Plant and now these companies are setting up gas-based projects in Balloki. He said that it is proof of the fact that these companies have complete confidence in Nawaz Sharif and they are well aware of this fact that under his leadership, no politician or officer can demand any commission rather all matters are settled transparently and in a profession manner.
Sharif said that due to transparent policies of the government, these companies are setting up these projects at a very low cost. He said that we have to maintain this standard and no one can change this standard. CEO of National Power Parks Project Rashid Mehmood while addressing the function said that 4,00,000 families would be provided electricity from Balloki Power Plant and 20 million population will benefit from it. He said that modern machinery is being used in this project and its working capacity is 61.63 percent.
He said that this project would start generating electricity in 2017. He said that cheap and environment-friendly electricity would be generated from this project and besides promotion of agriculture and industry, new job opportunities will be created. Vice President of China Harbon International working on the project said that his company has completed nine electricity projects in Pakistan and assured that Balloki Power Plant project would be also completed speedily and within stipulated period. He said Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and his team are actively working for elimination of load-shedding from the country and their efforts will bear fruit. Earlier, the prime minister laid foundation stone of Balloki power plant.
