A three- days anti polio campaign kicked off in twenty five districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on Tuesday. The campaign will be followed by a catch-up day, and a total of 5,477,687 children under five years will be immunized against polio virus across the province.
According to the Polio Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) of Health department a total of 16,406 teams including 14,709 mobile, 1586 fixed and 111 roaming teams have been deputed to ensure the achievement of the drives target, whereas, 774 transits points have also been set up at various places to ensure polio drops to children on travel.
A meeting of the relevant quarters of health department was held with Senior Minister Health Shahram Tarakai in the chair to discuss the preparations for the drive.
The chair while reiterating his government’s commitment to eradicate polio virus from the province directed the authorities to utilize all the available resources to ensure results from the campaign.
He further directed the authorities to pay special attention to the areas where refusal cases are reported. Asking them to visit such areas personally and involve the local elected representatives and ulemas to convince the parents to get their children immunized against polio virus.
