Overload is set to make a whole family of fans in India very happy.

The rock band has accepted their invitation to perform at a private party in Ludhiana, which will kick off their series of wedding festivities.

The family, headed by a Punjabi business tycoon, has been fans of Overload since the band released ‘Dhamal’ in 2007 and ‘Neray Aah’ and ‘Mahi’ on Coke Studio in 2012, tells front man Farhad Humayun.

“Also, when Overload played at the Shalom Music Festival in Gurgaon in 2009, [we] gained an Indian indie music following but basically the Web is where people overseas and across borders hear each other,” he added about the band’s reach in India.

Overload has previously performed in India a few times, including concerts in Delhi and some Bollywood events in Mumbai like the 2009 Apsara Awards.

While they’re going to perform at a private event, the band also has cinema on its mind.

“We have an alternative sound that mainstream cinema doesn’t really know how to use in films. We are a live act and are happy to play to an audience which can participate,” admits Farhad.

But he insists that Overload’s music would add an authentic Pakistani touch to a film.

“In future, if someone wants a true Pakistani sound, we’d consider doing a song or two for Indian, Pakistani cinema and Hollywood.”

One thing Overload isn’t thinking about is the Shiv Sena.

“Punjab is not hostile and seems welcoming,” Farhad says, “We hope that with the elections passing, the Shiv Sena will have calmed down. We are a rock n dance band and we will do our best to get the Shiv Sena dancing to our beat too! If it all goes haywire, then we’ll have an interesting story to tell!”
