Health dept committed to serving people: Jam Mehtab

Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that we are committed to serve the suffering humanity and we all have taken an oath to serve the people.
This he said while taking an oath from all heads of major hospitals, district health officers and heads of various health projects at a ceremony on reviewing the performance of the health department at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
The oath taking ceremony was attended by Sindh Health Secretary Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, DG Health Dr Hassan Murad Shah, Special Secretary Health Dr Riaz Memon, Executive Director JPMC Dr Professor Anis Bhatti and MS Civil Hospital, Karachi Dr Saeed Qureshi. They all including Provincial Minister for Health took an oath that they would perform their duties honestly, would not make untiring efforts in disposing off their duties, serve the patients and would not involve in any corruption.
Jam Mehtab informed that the officials also discussed shortcomings of the department and the government has planned to devolve powers from the secretariat to lower level.
He assured the people of the province that there was no dearth of funds for health sector. “We had some problems due to certain administrative issues, but would solve them and health facilities would be improved as well.
In the ceremony, the heads of the projects and health experts gave suggestions how to improve public hospitals and health facilities in the province.
The minister said that he had taken many revolutionary measures to eradicate corruption in the Health Ministry and more than 400 doctors had been removed from service since he had taken charge.
He said that these doctors had been long absent and mostly had gone on ex-Pakistan leave and never returned to their homeland.
