In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed to protest against the killing of a student by Indian troops in Srinagar.

The call for the shutdown was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik. All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic is off the road, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.

The occupation authorities have imposed curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar and deployed Indian troops and police personnel in all major towns to prevent people from holding demonstrations against the cold-blooded murder of the student.

The student, Gowhar Ahmed Dar, was killed, yesterday, when Indian troops fired teargas shells on peaceful demonstrators who were protesting at Zainakote in Srinagar against Indian premier Narendra Modi’s visit to occupied Kashmir.
