Imran announces to move court against protesting doctors of KP

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Saturday vowed to continue health reforms process adding that no compromise would be made in this regard.

Addressing a ceremony of Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital (SKCH) in Peshawar, Khan said that some people are trying to create hindrance in way of health reforms process.

He said that no hindrance would be tolerated in the way of health reforms. In a tit-for-tat move against protesting doctors of KPK, Khan announced to approach the court against them, two days after he got a contempt of court notice over a plea filed by Pakistan Medical Association (PMAs)

“I don’t want to fight, I respect doctors,” he said during a visit to Peshawar, adding that majority of the doctors support health reforms introduced by the provincial government.

“Doctors should be held accountable for wrongdoings and praised over good work as rule of law is not possible without the concept of punishment and reward,” Khan said.

He said students had a major part in building of SKCH for which Rs800 million were still required. Khan said he had not spoken against the judges and didn’t commit contempt of court.

It is worth mentioning here that Peshawar High Court issued a contempt of court notice over PMAs application which stated that Khan had described doctors as ‘mafia’ during a media talk.
