BZU Vehari campus set up without permission: Governor

Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana said the Bahauddin Zakariya University’s Vehari campus was set up without permission of the provincial government and syndicate, and a report had been sought.
Speaking at a press conference here at the Circuit House on Sunday, he said BZU Vehari campus was set up in haste without NOC.
The governor said nearly 80 illegal appointments had been made in the campus, adding that the notice had also been taken to ascertain reasons behind the establishment of the campus.
About BZU performance, the governor said he had ordered the new vice chancellor to bring about an improvement in the varsity as well as in administrative affairs at the earliest and also inform him about record of recruitment in the past.
To a query about building of Women University at Mattital, the governor said a high power electricity transmission line was passing over the proposed site and arrangements were being made to shift it, adding that the construction of building would be started after shifting the transmission line.
About Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University, the governor said land for the varsity campus was being retrieved through talks from illegal occupants and hoped that the land would be acquired very soon.
Rafique Rajwana said a summary for approval of another 600 new beds for Nishtar Hospital had been prepared to cater needs of patients of the region. Similarly, Cancer Hospital machine’s standardization process was in progress which would start facilitating people soon.
He added that work on Children Complex, Kidney Centre, Modern Burn Unit, DHQ hospital and some other health projects would also complete in future. MPA Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, Shiekh Tariq Rasheed and others were also present.
