Justice Ijazul Ahsan took the oath as 44th chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) during a ceremony at the Governor’s House on Friday.
Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana administered the oath.
Prominent among those attended the ceremony were Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab Assembly speaker, judges of the Lahore High Court, provincial ministers, Pakistan Bar Council vice-chairman, presidents and office-bearers of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association and a host of luminaries.
Later, upon his arrival at the high court after the ceremony, the new chief justice was presented the guard of honour by a smartly dressed police contingent. The LHC judges and court officials all welcomed and congratulated the new chief justice.
