Daily wages teachers protest removal from service

Daily wages teachers from schools in federal capital have voiced strong protest against issuance of order by Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) for removing them from service saying it is their economic murder.

The FDE has issued orders to all the schools headmasters in federal capital to remove all the daily wages teachers working in their respective schools from service and inform the FDE about their demand so that teachers could be provided to them from other educational institutions.

It has been laid down in the notification issued by director schools female that no more funds will be provided to all the educational institutions for payment of salaries to daily wages teachers. If need arises under inevitable circumstances then Director General (DG) FDE will accord approval for recruitment of the daily wages teachers after taking the interviews of the candidates.

According to sources, 564 daily wages teachers are working in five sectors of Islamabad.

Director schools has directed all education officers to ensure implementation of this notification from the heads of the schools under their control and send report thereof.

The daily wages teachers have termed this order issued by directors schools as contempt of court saying that their dismissal from service is a conspiracy in the prevailing situation when their matter is pending hearing in IHC and Supreme Court. The court has ordered the committee for regularizing all the competent daily wages teachers and the committee is working on this matter.

Director Schools Farida Yasmin said the process of recruitment of daily wages teachers in all FG schools is not transparent. Schools heads have appointed teachers against the rules and beyond the demand, therefore, their removal has become inevitable.
