Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently launched an operation against illegal kiosks and razed around 165 units from the capital city.
According to the CDA official there are 250 illegal kiosks in violation of master plan of the capital.
A senior official of the authority said after launching First Information Report (FIR), by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), CDA has launched operation against illegal occupants of kiosks. He said CDA has demolished around 165 kiosks so far in various sectors of the city and in Daman-e-Koh.
According to CDA officials, the kiosks had allegedly been licensed in the past, particularly by previous government.
Dozens of kiosk owners visited the CDA offices to register their complaints. “We have a valid license but the team demolished our stalls,” said an owner of kiosk, who had been operating a stall at Daman-e-Koh.
The Kiosk Association (KA) of Islamabad on Friday stage a protest demonstration against the demolishing of 500 kiosks in capital and surrounded the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) office for four hours.
Later, they marched towards the Aabpara Chowk and sit-in there for two hours. The participants of the demonstration raised slogans against PML-N government and administration of civic body.
During the demonstration, the president of KA along with 40 protestors handed himself to police voluntarily.
