Hit-and-Run case: Session court cancels bail plea of DSP’s son

The Session Court Lahore on Thursday cancelled the interim bail extension plea of an accused allegedly involved in the accident that killed a private TV channel’s employee Rana Bilal, directing the police to take him into custody.

Additional District and Session Judge Lahore Masood Ahmed Warraich conducted the hearing of the case.

During the hearing, the accused Talah’s counsel said that the accused was not driving at that time when accident took place and that he was not even in the car. He said that the case against Talah was baseless and prayed to the court to extend the interim bail of the accused.

The counsel of the respondent further told the court in his arguments that police had apprehended the accused despite interim bail and committed contempt of court.

Speaking on behalf of Bilal’s heir, the counsel argued that the accused Talah was the son of former DSP of police, which is why police was backing the accused. Earlier, a fake accused named Fahim was arrested without justification and police had kept him in judicial lock up, he said. He prayed to the court to cancel the bail plea of the accused.

The court after hearing the arguments of the counsels of both parties reserved its verdict for hours and then dismissed the interim bail extension plea for Talah and sent him to police custody.
