Planning minister says $46 billion project would prove game changer; Gilgit-Baltistan would also be gateway to CPEC.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development (P&D) Ahsan Iqbal has assured that all four provinces of the country would benefit equally from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Project.
Addressing a seminar entitled “China Pakistan Economic Corridor: A Road to Peace and Prosperity of the Region”, Ahsan Iqbal said that social and economic activities had started in Balochistan under the said project.
He said that two international standard roads were being constructed from Gwadar to Quetta and from Gwadar to Khuzdar to Ratodero. Like Gwadar, Gilgit-Baltistan would also be gateway to CPEC, he said.
Iqbal said that $46 billion CPEC Project would prove to be a game changer for the entire region. It would interlink South Asia, Central Asia and Europe, and open billions of dollars of trade markets for Pakistan and other regional countries.
The minister rejected the impression and reports that the original plan of the CPEC was altered.
