An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday released PTI leader Ashraf Khan Sohna and 14 others and sent two to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a torture case.

The Okara police produced Ashraf Khan Sohna, his two sons, a brother and others on expiry of their two-day physical remand before ATC-II Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal.

The police requested the court to grant further physical remand of the accused for investigations.

However, the complainant and two witnesses presenting affidavits identified two accused and submitted that Ashraf Sohna and 14 others were not present on the scene.

At this, the court rejected the request for further remand, released Sohna and 14 others and sent the accused to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Sohna was arrested on the polling day of the first phase of local bodies elections along with his sons, brother and others for torturing a presiding officer.

Okara City B division police had registered the case under various sections including 7-ATA against them.
